The Department of Analytical Chemistry, one of the affiliates of the College of Chemistry, is in charge of teaching undergraduate courses related to analytical chemistry. The major of analytical chemistry was first set up in the Department of Chemistry in 1958 when Fuzhou University was founded, then transferred to the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering over 1961-1983, and transferred back again to the Department of Chemistry during 1984-1993, and became one of the teaching and research sections in the Department of Chemistry, College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering from 1993 to April, 2014 when the Department of Analytical Chemistry was established.
The teaching faculty in the Department of Analytical Chemistry is interested in wide research areas, rich in knowledge, and rigorous in scholarship. The well-known analysts such as Professor Zhang Fan, Professor Wang Yaoguang, Professor An Jingru, Professor Chen Guonan had been once working here. At present the teaching staff consists of 13 full professors and 2 associate professors including 1 named Changjiang Scholar by the Ministry of Education, 1 winner of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholar, 1 winner of National Science Fund for Excellent Young Scholars, 1 successful candidate for Thousand Talent Program for Young Outstanding Scientists, 1 successful candidate for Ten Thousand Talent Program, 4successful candidates for Program for New Century Excellent Talents in University by the Ministry of Education, 4 winners of Fujian Provincial Training Foundation For “Hundred-thousand-ten thousand Talents Project”, and 1 high-level entrepreneurial innovator in Fujian province. All the teachers hold doctor's degrees. The curricula undertaken by the Department of Analytical Chemistry include analytical chemistry, instrument analysis, inorganic chemistry and analytical chemistry, water analytical chemistry, chemical sensors, food chemistry and food safety monitoring, chemiluminescence, and introduction of environmental monitoring, etc.
The Department of Analytical Chemistry will pass on the fine tradition of “Sparing No Efforts in Pioneering Work” of the College of Chemistry, uphold the educational idea of looking at the macro world from the micro, create the teaching atmosphere of rigor, diligence, realist and innovation, impart basic professional knowledge in analytical chemistry, and strive to fostering the excellent talents in chemistry for the country.
