The Institute of Supramolecular Structure and Materials (hereinafter referred to as the "Institute") (for details, see http://supramol.fzu.edu.cn), founded in 2014 out of the Laboratory of Structural Chemistry established by Prof. Lu Jiaxi (Academician of CAS), is one of the new institutes affiliated to the College of Chemistry at Fuzhou University. At present, the Institute enjoys a young, professional, dynamic and creative research team, including 5 full-time teaching and research staff with different backgrounds of organic chemistry, supramolecular chemistry, structural chemistry and theoretical chemistry, together with around 20 doctoral and master students.
Supramolecular Chemistry is the chemistry related to the intermolecular interactions and molecular assemblies. In Crossing and inosculating with materials science, biology and other scientific subjects, supramolecular chemistry has developed into supramolecular science and has been regarded as the sources of the new concepts and high technology in the 21st century. Considering the current progress in this area, the research goals of the Institute are mainly anchored on the newly developed and crossed discipline with the keystones on the following: (1) supramolecular recognition and assembly; (2) supramolecular structure and photo-/electro- functional materials; (3) spectroscopy and simulation of supramolecular assemblies.
Our scientific research activities have been funded through around 10 projects by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Doctoral Fund of the Ministry of Education of China, Natural Science Foundation of Fujian Province, Science & Technical Development Foundation of Fuzhou University, State Key Laboratory of Photocatalysis on Energy and Environment in Fuzhou University and State Key Laboratory of Structural Chemistry in Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter (CAS).
