The Institute of Advanced Energy Materials (hereinafter referred to as the "Institute"), supported by the Physical Chemistry, a national key discipline, and the state key Laboratory of Photocatalysis on Energy and Environment, has distinctive demand for time and subject characteristics, and enjoys a good reputation for its academic influence at both home and aboard. Currently, the Institute focuses on the design of electrode materials and their application in lithium/sodium ion batteries, supercapacitors, fuel cells, dye-sensitized solar cells and novel thin film solar cells. The Institute has been equipped with many advanced instruments for material characterization and performance testing. It has got financial supports from the National Scientific Fund of China, the 863 Program, the Ministry of Education, the major research plans of Fujian Province and so on. Over 100 academic papers have been published in SCI indexed international famous journals, such as Energy, Environ. Sci., Adv. Funct, Mater, and Nano Energy.
By 2014, the Institute has cultivated doctors and masters with a total number of over 40, and won a China Youth Science and Technology Innovation Award for the first time at Fuzhou University. In recent 2 years, over 50% of the graduates holding the doctor’s or master’s degrees have been awarded the national scholarship. Its PhD graduates have been engaged in researches in the universities of Fujian Province and institutes of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and its masters also have found jobs at state-owned enterprises and large-scale energy companies.
