The National & Local Joint Biomedical Engineering Research Center on Photodynamic Technologies was officially approved by National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), which belongs to the Institute of Functional Materials of the College of Chemistry at Fuzhou University (FZU). The approval demonstrates the recognition of the cutting-edge research and development carried out in this center, and positions Fuzhou University at the forefront ofChinain this field.
The center has developedan anti-cancer chemical drug--Photocyanin, which was approved by Chinese Food and Drug Administration for clinical trial, and is currently in Phase II clinical trial for esophageal cancer.
