Recently, the application of “Project 111" Innovation Base of Photocatalysis on Energy and Environment at Fuzhou University got approved by expert review organized by the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs. The application was filed by the Photocatalysis Team of Fuzhou University.
The Project 111 was jointly launched by the Ministry of Education and the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs of China. It aims to: 1) strengthen the innovation capability and overall competitiveness in China’s leading universities with focuses on national key disciplines; 2) invite and recruit 1,000+ overseas talents from the top 100 universities and research institutes worldwide and team them up with domestic researchers to forge a high-level R&D force; 3) establish 100 R&D and innovation bases in the universities to accelerate the process of building world-class universities in China. Hence, the project is called “Project 111” for short.
The “Project 111” used to be open only to universities from "985 Project". Now the local universities can file an application, too. Only 15 applications were approved in 2016 and the applicants included Soochow University, Shanghai University, Beijing University of Technology, and Fuzhou University. This is the first “Project 111” Innovation Base at Fuzhou University, marking another breakthrough and a new high on the talent introduction work of the university.
