On the night of December 8, the 3rd Graduate Science and Technology Festival and Graduate Innovation Forum of the College of Chemistry kicked off at the Mock Court at Fuzhou University.
Guests present at the opening ceremony were Prof. Wang Lianhui, Director of Academic Committee of Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Distinguished Professor of "Changjiang Scholars Program", and winner of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars; Prof. Chen Hong, Distinguished Professor of Soochow University, Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, winner of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, and Deputy Editor Chief of Polymer Chemistry; Prof. Chen Xiaohui, Director of the Training Office of the Graduate College; Prof. Wang Sanqiang, Deputy Secretary of the Youth League Committee of Fuzhou University; Mr. Shi Bingwen, Secretary of CPC Committee of the College of Chemistry; Prof. Wang Xinchen, Dean of the College of Chemistry; Mr. Liu Wang, Deputy Secretary of CPC Committee of the College of Chemistry; Prof. Huang Jiandong, Deputy Dean of the College of Chemistry, who presided over the opening ceremony.
Prof. Wang Xinchen delivered the opening speech in which he talked about the achievements the college had made in Ph. D and Master students cultivation in the past and recognized the positive role the forum played in terms of promoting academic exchanges and personal development of graduate students.
Prof. Chen Xiaohui in his speech emphasized the following three points: the role of graduate education, the graduate enrollment of the College of Chemistry, and the inheritance and development of the "Three Spirits" of Fuzhou University.
The sponsor prepared two fabulous presentations for the graduate students. One was from Prof. Wang Lianhui who led the students into the world of optoelectronic nanomaterials and its application in biological detection. The other was from Prof. Chen Hong who illustrated and discussed with the graduates on how to move from basic training toward innovative research from a new perspective.
At the end, Vice Dean Huang Jiandong made a summary and pointed out that being in endless pursuit of learning and innovation is the only way to continuous progress.
